Week 4 – ADST & Resources
For this week, our online class featured a talk from a teacher in ADST from SD62 and some information on specific resources from FocusEd. Our pre-class materials included going over different ADST curricula in BC for the grade levels. I specifically chose the Grade 5 ADST curriculum to look over and note or analyze the best and most applicable parts for me. As a result, my weekly reflection this week will be my small mindmap of this curriculum.

Overall, this curriculum is exactly what I believe I learned in Grade 5, and generally applies well to this age group. Design cycle is heavily incorporated, and I think that can have connections to many different areas of learning, such as ELA or Science. I also appreciate the added points of choosing the appropriate technology for each task. Knowing what to use when you need technology as a support is vital to how efficiently the task is completed. I do, however, wish that the content included more information and ideas rather than what was given, but it is still self-explanatory and seemingly simple what is expected by the Ministry of Education for what students in grades 4-5 should know before middle school.
